stoopid friday

Woke up this morning and my first thought was, "I'll never sleep on this mattress again."

HA!

My new bed was delivered today, but guess what? The box spring has a solid wood frame and would not fit up the stairs. Whole bed sent back. Contacted the store. For and extra $100 I can get a split box spring. Which is what I'm going to do. Hey... $2000, $2100.... what's the dif. I want a damned good bed and I'm willing to pay for it. But I refuse to sleep in the living room in order to have one.

By the way, I'm totally freaked out about spending that kind of money. Way outside of my usual budget, except that the work I did as a research assistant last winter paid me in one lump sum, so for once I had the dough to make a big purchase. Hate buying on credit, though sometimes I cave.

Work day was okay. Lots to do. Spent the majority of the afternoon typing book pockets and spine labels while listening to CBC.

Then my mom called about the bed. *sigh*

Then my mom called about Hansel. Martians abducted him while the furniture guys were trying to force my bed up the stairwell. He was locked in the kitchen with the cats. When my poor mom went to let him out, only the cats were there. All three doors were still shut. She checked everywhere... cupboards, fridge... back yard, basement, around the block. But no dog. It's the weirdest thing.

Even weirder is that he didn't come running when she put food in his bowl and shook it. That dog is a complete pig. I frequently catch him licking the container that the cat food is stored in.

All in all... a mediocre day gone bad.

Sorry bout your poopy friday. The bed thing is exciting.

I hope the Martians return Hansel immediately.

Yep... I know you can totally relate to not being able to get a bed up the stairwell. What did people sleep on 100 years ago anyway?!? Cots?
