sunday

Hansel was found wandering about four blocks from my house by a woman who has five beagles. She took him to her vet, the vet tracked me down, and Hansel was back by 6:00. Which was good, because my mom was on the verge. I wasn't too worried, just hoping he hadn't been hurt. He was absolutely fine, which was a relief.

The bed... well... still feeling grumpy about that. It's like when someone holds something out to you and just when you are about to take it, they snatch it away. Will be about a month before I wake up, roll over and don't feel completely stiff and sore. Not the end of the world, I know.

The rest of the weekend has been fine. O. and I are being lazy today. Doing laundry, picking apples at my mom's, lounging on the couch, drinking coffee. Crazy big storm on Friday night. We watched it rolling in for hours and when it finally hit, it was with force. Everything was thouroughly whipped and battered. Trees are down around the city, but my wee babies managed to ride it out. My garden looks hung over... the tomatoes are begging for an asprin and another beer. The corn wants to go out for a greasy breakfast. The herbs are sleeping it off.

LOL. What a hard-bitten garden! Maybe they should produce a film noir together. The Maltese Asparagus or something.
