Well, half last year's resolutions were a bust. Specifically 2, 3 and 4. I resolve to do better this year?
1. I will continue to keep my head above water financially. My income has been cut in half since September but I appear to be doing okay. No wiggle room, but hey, surviving.
2. I will get back on the exercise bandwagon. Got rid of the 10 lbs I had gained and then put them back on. Grad school is hard on the body. Waaaaay too much sitting at a desk. Taking Lexi for a 5km walk every morning and lifting weights again. Will start running and biking as soon as the snow disappears.
And a new one....
3. We will not waste food. This is actually a household resolution prompted by a statistic that I came across while researching a paper. Approximately 1/3 of food is wasted at the household level. This one starts right after I clean out the fridge! I'm sure there is all kinds of horrifying things growing in there...

Ive got the first two on my list... And will add the third. I recently learned that 80% of the trash at our school is food! Trying to think of a solution to reduce that too... Happy New Year C xoxoxo
Resolution number 3 is a unique one. I like it! I started on this last year in a way. One thing that made it easier was that our fridge died and we had to get a new one (that didn't help with finances much). But, we got a fridge with a bottom mount freezer. To fit in the space we had available, we ended up with a fridge that had a little less space than the old fridge. Two things about this fridge I like: One, everything is at eye level, so nothing disappears into the back. Two, it's smaller, so we have to be more organized about what we buy and what goes in. Means we buy less, which means we save money and don't waste (as much) food. Sadly, I have not lost any weight for some reason. :-( I was hoping that would be a benefit as well.
Happy New Year! I resolve to eat an apple a day.
